April 21, 2023. Malaga to Tarifa

This trip is hosted by a group called the Bicycle Adventure Club and led by IberoCycle Tours out of Spain. (A little side note: Chris and I were all signed up to do a bike tour in Crete with BAC last year at this time for our 45th wedding anniversary. But one fateful day in January last year we headed out for our first training ride of the new year, hit black ice and splat! down we went. Chris got a little scratch on his arm and I fractured my pelvis in two places. As hard as we wished and hoped, we ultimately had to cancel the trip at the last minute. Thus the need for a make-up trip this year.)

Our group of 30 met for the first time at Happy Hour on Friday, April 21 where we learned about the trip ahead. Saturday morning we all boarded a bus and rode from Malaga to Tarifa where the bike tour will begin. The highlight of this two hour bus ride was passing the Rock of Gibraltar.

Once in Tarifa we settled in at La Residencia Hotel, we spent several hours putting the tandem together and then went for a dip in the rooftop pool. What a view! You can see the Mediterranean Sea and Morocco in the distance.
