Greetings from Norfolk, Virginia. We’re just here for a week while Chris facilitates an Environmental Negotiations class for the Navy. We arrived early so we could explore the area.
It’s a cloudy day and very very windy. Our first stop on our little tour is historic Jamestown. In 1607 this town became the home to the first permanent English settlement in North America. This is now a “Colonial National Historical Park” encompassing the entire 1,500 acre island.
Captain John Smith, one of the founding fathers, later became the governor of Virginia.
Next stop – Williamsburg.

The Governor’s Palace

Burton Parish Church

Custom House
And flowers flowers everywhere. . . . . . .

. . . . which I thought were beautiful but poor Chris just sneezed and snuffled all day.

A pollen puddle!
Then it was off to Yorktown

Yorktown Victory Monument
Lots of history in this neck of the woods. Now it’s time for a hunt for the best crab cakes.
