Since both Chris and I were in the midst of some pretty bad colds, we spent a lot of time just laying low and reading books.  But we did get out a bit.  We had a list of Okinawa foods we wanted to try, one of which was “taco rice.”  Not knowing what this was we set off to find the place with the best taco rice.  And that’s where King Tacos comes in.

We walked to this tiny restaurant and had to wait for a table as the place was packed.  All three tables.  Pretty soon the place cleared out and we had it all to ourselves for a little while.

And this is what the famous taco rice looks like.

Not exactly the great Mexican food we were used to in southern California.  What was great at King Tacos was the “collections” lining the walls of this tiny place.

I especially liked the Bob’s Big Boys displayed in the Juke Box.

Then it was back to the Westpac Lodge for more rest.  Here’s an image  from the front door of the lodge.  Very tropical looking.
